The Madina Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost on Saturday, June 9, 2018, donated items worth over GH₵10,000.00 and an amount of GH₵500.00 to Nsawam Prisons.
The items, which included; bags of rice, detergents, soap, drinks, toiletries, blankets among others, were presented to the female department of the prison by the Madina Area Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Charlotte Konadu Amegatcher.
She was assisted by Madina Area Head’s Wife, Mrs Rose Ahalivor, the Madina Area Women’s Ministry Pastors’ Wives representative, Mrs Esther Appianing, and other members of the Area Women’s Ministry Executive. Others were the Area and District Women’s Ministry Executive Members and some members of the Youth Ministry in the Area.
The Assistant Superintendent of Prisons, ASP Rosemond Addo-Darko, who received the donation on behalf of the Prisons Services and Management, expressed sincere and profound gratitude to The Church of Pentecost, precisely Madina Area Women’s Ministry for the gesture. She called on all others to continue visiting, donating and keeping the inmates in their prayers.
In an interview with some of the Prison Officers, they urged young people to be extra careful with their way of life. They said everybody is subject to go or come to prison because some of the inmates might not have been there, but because they were careless, joined the bad company, the influence from peers and poor parental guidance or control, they were in prison.
They also urged parents and leaders to have time for their children. “Educate, empower, coach and mentor the young ones to become assertive in order to play constructive roles in the society,” she said.
